Indian Engineering Industries formed in 1972, the Company began as stockist for ‘Gateway’ tracing paper and engineering drawing equipments.
In 1995 momentous changes happened within the Company when St. Cuthberts Mills of UK got in touch with IEI
to be their agent in India.
Situated in the southwest of England, besides the ancient Cathedral City of Wells this historic paper mill has been making paper taking advantage of the pure water of the River Axe since 1700. Outstanding quality maintained over centuries St Cuthberts Mill papers are recognised and endorsed by the Royal Water Colour Society.
With the tie up with St Cuthberts Mill in 1995 IEI has been in the pursuit of changing the mindset artists across
India to convert them to the use of high end artist paper. These 100 % rag made papers are of top archival
standard capable of preserving high end for fine arts and digital photographic reproduction.
In 1997 IEI opened their first exclusive papers showroom ‘Sankeshwaraa’ in Chennai city. To enhance their knowledge of the paper industry the Company has been a regular visitor to the Paper World at Frankfurt, Drupa, Printing Fair at Düsseldorf, Germany, Fespa at Lyons, France, Quadram Saca in Bologna, Italy.
The journey never ends. In 2016 IEI is also venturing into new arena with the opening of its own art gallery ‘Aadeshvaraas - The Gallery of Contemporary Art’ in Chennai city.
